  I began in the shoe business in 1970 in the New York area and joined The Wild Pair in 1977, serving as store manager in several mall locations in the Chicago area. Years later, business brought our family to Atlanta where we currently reside. All the while I have bought, sold and collected designer, vintage, unique and exotic fashion footwear.
   Like many of you, I have watched over the years as the sources for custom made boots have dwindled. Since the early days of Atomage and even before, we have seen many companies including most recently London's well-known The Little Shoe Box, come and go from the world market. Today there are precious few devoting themselves to the old world business of "bespoke" or made-to-order boots.
  I was fortunate enough to come across Jean Gaborit fashion boots several years ago, which included various heels and shaft lengths including thigh high boots. I placed an order and was immediately impressed with both the quality of workmanship and materials, and the company's commitment to excellent customer service.
  Upon hearing of the final closing of The Little Shoe Box, I approached the director of Jean Gaborit about expanding the line to include more extreme heels, platform soles and bolder designs … some of which were already in the works at their European factory. After much deliberation and some negotiations with The Little Shoe Box about purchasing the company, it was determined that the best way to proceed was to expand our own range and incorporate more exotic patterns into the existing selection.
  The results have been fantastic, and have been met with resounding universal approval. The same time-honored craftsmanship and finest quality Italian leathers that characterize Jean Gaborit's equestrian, western and fashion boots are now brought to the world of extreme styling as well. Heel heights from flat to 6 inches and beyond … Platform soles … Incredible shaft lengths to 40 inches … Pull-on styles … Calf length and full length inside or rear concealed zippers … Front or rear-lacing boots … Many colors of smooth calf, suede and genuine patent leather … Leather linings and soles .

About Jean Gaborit / Euroboots: Jean Gaborit is a third generation shoemaker who founded the company in 1962. The Gaborit name became well known and revered throughout France and Europe for high quality workmanship and styling expertise, with Jean Gaborit boots even gracing fashion magazine covers. His daughter Laurence also joined the business, furthering the family's involvement.
  A group of investors acquired the assets of the firm and took over the managerial operations in late 2000, while Jean and Laurence remained in key positions within the company. The company's formal name changed to Euroboots SARL while continuing to respect and incorporate the Gaborit name for its longstanding history and superior reputation. Director Ian Edgerley brought the company swiftly into the new millennium, introducing a web site and direct sales while Jean, Laurence and staff set about expanding and updating the line. This is a work in constant progress, and we can regularly watch for new patterns and options to emerge.   Customer satisfaction is of primary importance and on a par with the manufacturing itself. With the exception of a single retail dealer location in Paris, all sales are direct to the client through the internet, telephone or mail order. A showroom, also in Paris, has opened to serve walk-in clients as well, with samples on view and measurements taken for custom ordering. Ian and Laurence have recently begun exhibiting at related trade shows in Europe, where the extraordinary selection and quality always command great interest.
